Memberships Anyone?
Someone on Facebook asked me how to be a member of some of our popular local beauty stores. I may have the membership cards from most of these stores, but I can barely remember how I got them. So, I did a little research and came up with this post that will tell you all you need to know to get that card with all the benefits.
The Faceshop
Benefits
- 10% discount on all full priced items
- Birthday discounts of 20% for your birthday month, and free face mask.
How?
You need to spend at minimum of $60 to be entitled to a membership card.
However, at the moment, The Faceshop are not giving out anymore of their membership cards as all their cards have a fixed expiry date, which falls in August 2011. They will start issuing new cards again only then.
The Body Shop
Benefits
- 10% discount of regular priced items
- 20% discount off on your birthday and 50% on any one item
How?
Spend at least $60 in one purchase and you are eligible for membership for just another $5 for the 2-year membership.
Also. watch out for their Member Day Sale, which The Body Shop usually holds 2 or 3 times a year. Members will have the special discount of 25% on all items.
Skin Food
Benefits
With their VIP Membership Card, for every completed row of 7 stamps, you get $10 off on your purchase. And not only that, you will get a free gifts of nail polish, face mask, lip liners, eau de toilette and more for every row of 7 stamps completed.
How?
You have to spend $30 in a single receipt to get one stamp. So with every $30 in a receipt, you'll be able to get a stamp on your VIP Membership Card.
Note: Skin Food has recently open their fourth branch in Times Square. Remember to drop by their store whenever you're at Times Square to check out their line of products made of tasty food.
Etude House
Benefits
- 15% discount off all full priced items
- Special discounts of 20% and gift vouchers on your birthday
How?
Just spend $69 in a single receipt and you can be one of the Etude House's princesses.
Etude House is one of the top Korean cosmetics brands that has gained a lot of fans around Asia. Their first branch in Brunei
has recently opened in Times Square and I'm loving its bright and pink decor!
I think, out of the above, the one with the best membership benefits is Etude House. Their membership discount on days that's not your birthday is the highest at 15%.
The Body Shop and The Face Shop memberships are close runner-ups. On your birthday, you can buy an item from The Body Shop at half price, while at The Face Shop, you get a 20% discount for the entire month when your birthday falls in.
Well, hope the above answers your questions. Until next time, toodles~~ !

Interesting. Nice take on getting memberships. When I clicked the link I thought you meant how to make memberships. Yeah, I suppose I should try and make a post of that. It's part and parcel for businesses ;)

Thanks, BD! It was interesting to compare all the memberships side by side. So u can see which has the better privileges for u. :) Yup, memberships serves to promote exclusivity for businesses. Kind of make customers feel like they're part of a clique, which they are. :)
